1st Day: Marrakech - Atlas Mountains - Ait ben Haddou - Dades

Your 3-day Marrakech desert tour begins with an 8:00 AM pick-up from your riad or any location in Marrakech. Leaving the city behind, we will travel through the High Atlas Mountains, reaching the Tizi-N-Tichka Pass at 2,260 meters (7,415 feet) above sea level. Along the way, we will stop to admire charming Berber villages.
Next, we will visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a historic fortified village known for its unique Moroccan architecture. Many well-known movies and series have been filmed here, including Kingdom of Heaven (2005), Babel (2006), Prince of Persia (2010), Game of Thrones (2012), and the documentary David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet (2020). You’ll have time to explore this UNESCO-listed site.
After a delicious lunch, we will continue south along the “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs”, passing through Ouarzazate, Skoura, and the Valley of Roses in Kalaat M’Gouna. Upon reaching the Dades Valley in the afternoon, we will visit the fascinating “monkey fingers” rock formations, depending on the time available. If not, we will explore them the next day. You will spend the night in a comfortable accommodation.
2nd Day: Dades Valley - Todra Gorges - Merzouga desert

The second day of your 3-day desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga begins with a delicious breakfast. We then set off for Tineghir, making a stop at a scenic viewpoint overlooking beautiful Berber villages and a lush palm tree oasis. Nearby, you’ll find the stunning Toudgha Gorge, a canyon with towering 300-meter-high cliffs, where we will take a short walk before continuing our journey to the Merzouga desert.
Arriving in Merzouga in the afternoon, you will start an exciting camel trek across the Erg Chebbi dunes. Along the way, we will pause on a high dune to witness a spectacular sunset over the golden sand. Afterward, you will continue riding to the desert camp, where you will be greeted with a traditional cup of tea. Take some time to relax before enjoying a delicious Moroccan dinner. Later, gather around the campfire with Berber hosts, who will play drums and share stories under the magical starry sky. You will spend the night in a luxury desert camp of your choice.
3rd Day: Merzouga - Draa Valley - Marrakech
- Driving time & distance: 9 Hrs / 560 km.
We highly recommend waking up early today to witness a stunning sunrise from a nearby high dune. After enjoying a tasty breakfast, you can return to Merzouga town either by camel or in a comfortable 4×4 vehicle. From there, we will begin our journey back to Marrakech, taking a different route along the Draa River, which is the longest river in Morocco, stretching 1,100 kilometers.
You are welcome to ask your driver for stops whenever you like. We will take a lunch break in Ouarzazate before continuing through the High Atlas Mountains. Finally, we will drop you off at your accommodation in Marrakech, marking the end of your 3-day Marrakech to Merzouga desert tour.
